While it can be used as a standalone cliffhanger, the Pyramid is designed primarily as a blocking hold, allowing course designers to create forced link moves and eliminate comfortable grip positions.
Three 45-degree sloped faces create an unforgiving grip that demands constant downward pressure, while the straight side is designed to butt directly against other cliffhangers. This lets you seamlessly extend an existing cliff while introducing a difficult sloped section that forces athletes to move exactly where you want them to.
