Octopus

The Octopus by BarnBuilt is a multi grip obstacle designed to challenge control, adaptability, and decision-making through varied hand placements and movement styles. Shaped like an octopus, the obstacle features two curved handles that athletes can grab for stable movement and controlled transitions. In addition, a central ring provides an alternate route of engagement, opening up a different set of technical possibilities depending on how the obstacle is configured and attacked.

The ring includes an optional hinged lid that can be latched closed or left open to dramatically change the feel of the obstacle. When closed, the lid adds resistance and enables cane-style movement through the ring, requiring precise timing and controlled force to pass through efficiently. When opened, the lid creates a mouse-trap-style challenge, where athletes must lift the lid before quickly committing to the ring for progression.

The Octopus mounts directly to a pipe using built-in scaffold clamps, making installation simple and secure within a wide range of rig setups. With multiple grip options and configurable difficulty, it can be used as a technical standalone challenge or integrated into longer sequences for added variety.
